1 –
Ladainian Tomlinson - 31 TDs last year with an easy schedule. He's a
machine, but in 2005 he slowed as the season progressed. Look for 20 or so
total TDs.
2 – Steven Jackson - With all those catches, he could potentially be
#1 this year. Look for Jackson to go insane.
3 – Larry Johnson - Edwards keeps saying they're going to give him
less touches. In addition, he might hold out if his contract isn't
restructured. He's either #3 or falls way down when he gets traded to an
inferior offense.
4 – Frank Gore - The offense in SF is really starting to come
together with the threats at wideout Gore will have even more lanes to run
in. 5.4 ypc last year was the most of any RB.
5 – Shaun Alexander - His foot might still be broken. He's a great
player, and will continue to produce, but he's now officially injury prone
and they lost Darrell Jackson.
6 – Willie Parker - Mr. Reliable. He runs, catches, and does it
without creating a stir. So long as they put a good change of pace back in
from time to time, he'll keep on doing his thing.
7 – Joseph Addai - Addai is all alone in the backfield now, and the
defense only got worse in the offseason, so look for big numbers from the
sophomore. You can call him Edge II.
8 – Brian Westbrook - Who's going to be the QB this year? Will
Donovan play all season? That will be a huge factor in Westbrook's
production. He'll do it all no matter who is there, but how often will he
have the time to let the plays develop?
9 – Reggie Bush - Reggie Bush is the new Marshall Faulk. He'll
probably lead the league in catches for RBs and maybe for all positions.
10 – Tom Brady - Donte Stallworth and Randy Moss = 4200 yards and 30+
TDs.
11 – Peyton Manning - That's right, Peyton Manning is no longer #1.
For those of you who wanted to know, even the year he threw 49 TDs, Manning
was not the #1 fantasy QB. He's just consistently good.
12 – Travis Henry - So long as Mike Shanahan stops playing games with
us in fantasyland, Henry will be a good source of fantasy points in Denver
this year.
13 – Rudi Johnson - This might be the year his streak of 1300/12
ends. 3.8ypc last year was indicative of something.
14 – Carson Palmer - There were questions last year about the health
of the knee. Palmer quieted all the naysayers and should be back on track
for over 4,000 yards.
15 – Drew Brees - Marques Colston and the Deuce/Reggie backfield give
Brees all the opportunities in the world. With defenders wise to their
tactics, his numbers might not be as good as last year, but they'll still be
damned good.
16 – Cedric Benson - Thomas Jones is out of town and Cedric can
finally take the reins. His games will be hit or miss to match the Bears as
a whole, but he's good enough to make up for some of the lack of talent
around him.
17 – Ronnie Brown - He may end up higher than this depending on how
Cam Cameron runs the offense. He also may end up lower if a committee is
formed in the backfield, but I doubt that will happen.
18 – Steve Smith - He missed two games and had 0 catches in week 16,
yet still managed to miss the ypg avg by only 2.3 yards and scored 8 TDs. So
long as he's healthy all year, he'll be in the top 3 in yards and score
double digit TDs.
19 – Chad Johnson - Another slow starter at WR, then he went on to
obliterate defenses the rest of the way through. He didn't lead the league
in receiving by accident.
20 – Deuce McAlister - The second half of New Orleans' deadly
backfield seems to be over his injury bug that plagued him a few years ago.
He'll get more yards on the ground than Reggie, but will score 7-9 TDs
himself.
21 – Torry Holt - Still the #1 in a still explosive offense.
22 – Marques Colston - Defenses will double team him, but not all the
time...sophomore jinx?
23 – Brandon Jacobs - Maybe not the receiver Tiki was, but they're
going to try to throw to him anyway.
24 – Marvin Harrison - The defense is looking sketchy this year,
which means more time on the field for the offense.
25 – Larry Fitzgerald - Will be even better this year as the line
improves in Arizona.
26 – Edgerrin James - See 25
27 – Willis McGahee - So long as he's healthy, he'll be ok, but no
Raven RB did very well last year.
28 – Reggie Wayne - Will statistically be very similar to
Marvin...possibly better.
29 – Laurence Maroney - All alone in the NE backfield. Oh yea, now
with Pro Bowl caliber receivers.
30 – Marion Barber III - Unsure of his role right now, but he
scores...a lot.
31 – Roy Williams - Even better this year with Calvin Johnson
opposite and Tatum actually gaining yards.
32 – Lee Evans - So long as J.P. has no hiccups, this could be an
even better year.
33 – Marc Bulger - Not as flashy a name as the top guys, but he
always produces.
34 – Terrell Owens - A few less TDs, but 1100/10 is still doable if
Tony Romo doesn't do terrible.
35 – Donovan McNabb - Provided he plays all year, should
statistically
be pretty good, but would have been better if Donte stayed in town.
36 – Maurice Jones-Drew - #2 RB in ypc in 2006 was....Fred Taylor.
He's not ready to have the offense to himself yet.
37 – Thomas Jones - New scenery, but it's been a few years since the
Jets had a solid RB...will they know what to do with one?
38 – Antonio Gates - Yea yea, best TE in the game, we know.
39 – TJ Houshmandzadeh - Will out produce a lot of #1 WRs.
40 – Clinton Portis - New committee in Washington will take a toll
on his numbers. Good for the Skins, bad for fantasy owners.
41 – Tatum Bell - Now he can finally prove himself.
42 – Carnell Williams - Which year was the fluke? I say 2006. But he
won't be as good as 2005.
43 – Ahman Green - Crowded backfield and a flighty HC mean if he
doesn't run away with the job, he's going to start 12 games instead of 16.
44 – Anquan Boldin - Another #2 WR who will outscore a lot of #1s.
45 – Javon Walker - Can't count on him every week, but he'll have big
games.
46 – Plaxico Burress - Hey, he showed up to camp this year, that's
got to count for something.
47 – Vince Young - The Titans will be terrible, but Vince can rack up
the scores on the ground.
48 – Jamal Lewis - If he scores 5 TDs, I'll be surprised, but I'm
pretty sure he'll get all the carries, even if he only avgs 3.8 ypc again
this year.
49 – Donald Driver - Brett likes him, so he gets the ball. Hopefully
Aaron Rodgers likes him next year.
50 – Darrell Jackson - A legitimate threat at WR in SF so long as he
gets over his nicks and bruises. That offense could sail this year.
