Strengths:
Robert Meachem fell under the radar this past college season with
the abundance of talent at the WR position. Some scouts would argue
that Meachem is the most athletic of the SEC WR prospects, including
Dwayne Bowe and Sidney Rice. Meachem produced a ridiculous 18+ yard
per reception average, so he has speed to burn. Robert Meachem has
drawn comparisons to former Florida State Seminole and current
Denver Bronco Javon Walker in the way he goes after the ball when it
is in the air, and his freakish athletic talent. Meachem would have
put up even more gaudy numbers had the Volunteers would have had
more consistent play from the QB position.
Weaknesses:
From time to time it seems that Robert Meachem has a lack of
focus and that leads to some dropped passes. Meachem also needs to
work on refining his route running, and develop the ability to run
every route necessary and not just the deep routes. 2006 was a
breakout season for Meachem, so he needs to work hard at the next
level to ensure that his junior season does not regulate him to “one
year wonder” status.
Overall:
Meachem did not produce stunning numbers throughout his three year
career at Tennessee, but his performance in his junior campaign
showed much promise and with the speed, agility, and power that
Robert Meachem possesses it is easy to project him as a #1 WR in the
National Football League. Meachem is a little “raw” still in his
development, but with the proper teaching and solid work ethic he
will be Pro Bowl WR. Meacham is moving up the board, and could
challenge for the #2 WR spot after Calvin Johnson.
