WR1 - Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech |
Official
Bio |
Height: 6-5
Weight: 239
40 yard dash: 4.35
Grade: 99 |
|
Strengths:
Where to begin? Calvin Johnson will go down as one of the best WR
prospects to ever enter the National Football League. His skills and
abilities force scouts to project him in the league of former WR
prospects such as Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald. Johnson has 4.35
speed with a huge frame, which is cause for scouts and GMs
everywhere to salivate at the immense potential that Johnson has. On
top of his physical tools, he has amazing hands and works well in
traffic. Also, refreshingly enough, his mental makeup is much more
Marvin Harrison than it is Terrell Owens.
Weaknesses:
Not many weaknesses to speak of to be completely honest. This is
nitpicking, but from time to time Johnson had some inconsistent
performances. Much of this is due to the fact that he had a QB that
was very below average, but you still want to see the #1 overall
prospect in ANY draft dominate on every occasion.
Overall:
Clearly the #1 prospect in the 2007 NFL draft. Johnson is as sure of
a prospect at the WR position that we have ever seen. We have heard
the analogy that Peyton Manning was to QB prospects that Calvin
Johnson now is to WR prospects. The statement rings true. Johnson
should contribute immediately and is a future multiple Pro Bowler. |
