Strengths:
Dwayne Bowe has the potential to be a legit #1 WR in the NFL. Bowe
is a physical specimen and uses his athletic talents to get open on
a regular basis. Dwayne Bowe was the #1 target for the potential #1
overall pick in this years draft, QB JaMarcus Russell, and they
hooked up on many an occasion. At the Senior Bowl, Bowe moved up the
draft board when he dominated opposing CBs in individual drills and
left a indelible impression on scouts and GMs.
Weaknesses:
Bowe had a rather up and down career at LSU. He never seemed to
dominate as one would expect. With the #1 QB prospect at the helm
and with two top 10 WR prospects (Bowe and teammate Craig Davis) its
hard to fathom why the Tigers did not dominate offensively in the
SEC. Bowe only broke the 100 yard receiving mark in two games in
’06, and he only broke the century mark in four games his ENTIRE
career at LSU. So, although all aspects of his game point to
continued success and the next level, his past performances have not
always dictated this, at least not statistically.
Overall:
In the right situation, with the right franchise Dwayne Bowe has a
bright future in front of him. He has all the physical tools and
attributes for an offensive coaching staff to utilize and to mold in
to a Pro Bowl WR. As long as Bowe does not rest on his laurels and
continues to work, future success is in the cards.
