S5 - Eric Weddle, Utah Eric Weddle

NFL.com Profile

Height: 5-11
Weight: 203
40 yard dash: 4.51
Grade: 83
Strengths:
Eric Weddle is a versatile athlete with good quickness. He is a very fluid defender who can handle zone or man to man coverage equally well. He has good recognition and instincts, which allow him to make plays on the ball. A team leader with good intangibles, Weddle works hard in run support and is a solid open field tackler.

Weaknesses:

Weddle is being viewed as a "tweener" after playing both cornerback and safety at Utah. He has adequate long speed, but he may not be able to run with the fastest of receivers. A terrific football player, there are concerns that he has limited upside.

Overall:

The two time Mountain West Conference defensive player of the year, Weddle is known for his versatility, as he played safety, cornerback, quarterback, running back, punter, punt returner, and holder while at Utah. Weddle projects to safety in the NFL, despite being a top flight corner while in college. He is a terrific football player who will be a solid addition to any team and should come off the board late in Round Two.
