QB7 - Jordan Palmer, Texas-El Paso |
Official
Bio |
Height: 6-5
Weight: 231
40 yard dash: 4.95
Grade: 58 |
Strengths:
The younger brother of Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer, Jordan
Palmer shares the prototypical NFL size and arm strength. Palmer is
an extremely tough player who is willing to stand in the pocket and
take hits to get the ball downfield. He was successful under coach
Mike Price at UTEP, but will benefit from NFL coaching.
Weaknesses:
Jordan Palmer is still developing as a passer and must work on
handling the pass rush. When rushed at UTEP, he often made bad
decisions and turned the ball over. That pressure will only increase
at the next level. His mechanics are inconsistent, as he will throw
the ball off balance at times. He is not the most accurate passer
and will have to work at making NFL type throws.
Overall:
Palmer has been overrated by some because of his bloodlines. He
does have the size to be successful at the next level and will
improve under a good quarterbacks coach. However, he does not have
the skill of his brother, and will always be vulnerable to a strong
pass rush. Palmer is worth while project, but he is not the type of
player a team can count on. He has a high bust factor and is likely
to either be starting in a few years or out of the league.
