Strengths:
Joe Thomas is as safe a pick in the 2007 NFL Draft as can be
made. The prototypical left tackle will be a rock on the left side
of the offensive line for whichever team selects him. He has a
massive frame and is as adapt at pass blocking as he is in the
running game. He possesses excellent athleticism, as he was formerly
a tight end.
Weaknesses:
Joe Thomas may have entered the NFL Draft in 2006, if it was not
for a knee injury that derailed that plan and any time there is an
injury, especially a knee injury, it is a cause for concern. He has
shown no signs that the injury has slowed him down at all, but when
dealing with a prospect like Thomas, it requires one to nitpick. He
also has arms that are shorter than some would like for a left
tackle, and have some fearing that he will become a potential bust
like former 1st rounder Robert Gallery.
Overall:
It is the general consensus of the WRR staff that Robert
Gallery, Joe Thomas is not. He is an immense talent and comes with
as few question marks as any prospect in the 2007 draft. Lock in Joe
Thomas for a top five selection in the 2007 Draft, and as long as
the knee does not become an issue once again, lock him into a few
Pro Bowls as well.
