OLB2 - Lawrence Timmons, Florida State Lawrence Timmons

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-1
Weight: 234
40 yard dash: 4.59
Grade: 90
Strengths:
In a word…Athleticism. Lawrence Timmons is the most athletically gifted athlete at the linebacker position in the 2007 NFL Draft Class. Lawrence Timmons exploders when pursuing a runner and closes incredibly fast when getting in the backfield, evidenced by the fact that he recorded 18 tackles for loss this past season. He also excels in pass coverage, a attribute that will serve him well at the next level and will help his draft stock as he is one of the better cover LBs in the draft.
Weaknesses:
Lawrence Timmons had a good junior season, but his lack of playing experience has to be a concern for scouts and GMs at the next level. Ideally, you have more than 13 games to evaluate how a prospect reforms in a starting role. The WRR believes that Lawrence Timmons is an extremely “raw” prospect and will need a lot of polishing and coaching at the next level for him to fulfill his potential. Lawrence Timmons is another of what is being called a “boom or bust” prospect.
Overall:
Lawrence Timmons, athletically, is ready for the National Football League. Lawrence Timmons, the entire package, maybe not ready. Lawrence Timmons is a draft pick that may not pay dividends initially, but has excellent long-term prospects and will be a sure-fire 1st round draft pick in April’s draft.
