OLB Rankings

OLB3 - Jon Beason, Miami Jon Beason

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-0
Weight: 237
40 yard dash: 4.64
Grade: 89

Strengths:
Speed and explosiveness, as well as the ability to go sideline to sideline give Jon Beason an excellent opportunity to succeed at the next level. Jon Beason had the rare experience of playing at every linebacker positions during his career at the “U” and these experiences will benefit him at the next level. Jon Beason will bring additional versatility to a linebacker corps in the National Football League.
Weaknesses:
Injury concerns are the major issue that surrounds the future prospects of Jon Beason. There was rumors floating around that Beason had “tweaked” his ACL. While this may be unsubstantiated, it certainly yields concerns. He is also not as fluid ad scouts would like, so he is viewed as having a “ceiling” because he could be a possible liability in the pass defense. He also misses tackles on occasion.
Overall:
Jon Beason is an exceptional prospect and would be able to step in and make an immediate impact for a team that has several excellent players who can defend the pass already. Given the opportunity to “run around and make plays” Beason will perform great, however, there will be bump in the roads along the way in becoming a complete linebacker.
