OG5 - Manuel Ramirez, Texas Tech Manuel Ramirez

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-3
Weight: 326
40 yard dash: 5.20
Grade: 72
Strengths:
Manny Ramirez is going to make some NFL Franchise extremely happy with his selection. He is one of the rare “low-risk, high-reward” prospects the NFL Draft rarely sees. He is a huge offensive guard who rattles the bones of defenders when they tread into his path. Manny Ramirez has excellent height and a rock-solid frame and plays with a mean streak for sixty minutes. Opposing defenses are not going to look forward to playing opposite Manny Ramirez on Sundays during the NFL season.
Weaknesses:
Manny Ramirez lacks the game experience you would prefer to see from an NFL prospect. The bigger issue surrounding Manny Ramirez as a prospect is that he comes from a college, Texas Tech, who utilized the spread offense so he will have to adapt to much more complex blocking schemes in the National Football League, and many times this transition is not an easy one. From a physical standpoint, he plays a little too upright and not fluid at times and he doesn’t really have long arms that scouts like to look for, so there could be a period where it will take Ramirez some time getting used to life in the National Football League.
Overall:
Manny Ramirez is a “raw” prospect who will need a great amount of coaching, but the upside to Manny Ramirez is undeniable. Manny Ramirez has brute strength and NFL teams will see this and realize that he could develop quite nicely into a solid offensive lineman and could dominate in some regards. If Manny Ramirez is not selected on Day One of the draft, he will be an absolute steal.
