DT6 - Tank Tyler, NC State Tank Tyler

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-2
Weight: 306
40 yard dash: 5.33
Grade: 80

Strengths:
Tank Tyler is extremely strong defensive tackle prospect and will excel if a team implements a one-gap system that will allow for him to rely on his raw strength and initial burst to provide penetration and cause havoc in the backfield of an opposing teams offense. He has a solid frame, uses excellent leverage techniques, and at times completely dominates the line of scrimmage.
Weaknesses:
He was inconsistent throughout his college career and shows no signs that he will develop consistent playing habits over night. He is most assuredly one of the defensive tackle prospects who routinely takes plays off and his upside is limited due to this aspect. Tank Tyler has no speed to speak of and his game revolves around raw strength and at the NFL level, all the players have an unbelievable amount of strength, so Tank Tyler will have to adjust and begin to develop a more sustainable work ethic.
Overall:
Tank Tyler is a good example of a prospect that needs to decide internally whether he wants to be a good football player or just a football player that makes the occasional play. He has had runs in with the law in the past, so he needs to stay clear of jeopardizing his playing career with off the field issues. He is a solid DT prospect who will go somewhere between rounds two and three, and will be a pleasant addition to the run stopping element on defense, but beyond that is an unknown.
