DE8 - Lamar Woodley, Michigan |

Bio
NFL.com
Profile |
Height: 6-1
Weight: 266
40 yard dash: 4.77
Grade: 84 |
Strengths:
A highly recruited prep at linebacker, Woodley played both defensive
end and linebacker at Michigan. A first team All-American as a
senior, he had 12 sacks. He is an aggressive player with a good
motor who is an excellent edge rusher. He has greatly improved his
pass rush techniques and uses his hands very well. He is the type of
player who will consistently pressure the passer and will fight to
get through blocks. He explodes off the line of scrimmage and once
he gets moving, he is difficult to stop.
Weaknesses:
Woodley is shorter than ideal for a defensive end and subsequently
struggles against double teams. He does not have the long speed or
coverage skills to play linebacker full time in the NFL. He could
play 3-4 OLB on early downs for some teams, but he probably projects
best as a pure defensive end. His aggressive nature can be a problem
at times as he will over pursue a play.
Overall:
Extremely productive at Michigan, Woodley must defeat sterotypes
about his size. He projects to be an excellent NFL pass rusher but
may run into concerns about his ability to play on every down. If he
goes to a team with the right scheme, he should prove valuable
because of his pass rushing skills. |
