Profile |
Height: 6-6
Weight: 260
40 yard dash: 4.70
Grade: 92 |
Strengths:
Jarvis Moss is a top pass rusher who should immediately contribute
as a specialty rusher, much as Mark Anderson did for the Chicago
Bears in 2006. He has the initial burst to run around many tackles
and has the athleticism to change direction to avoid being blocked.
He has the speed to make plays in the open field and run down
quarterbacks. He keeps his pad level correct most of the time and is
skilled at forcing fumbles.
Weaknesses:
Moss must ahead bulk and strength if he expects to be an every down
DE in the 4-3 scheme. If he was to line up at that position full
time immediately, he would be a liability in rushing defense, as he
gets taken out of the play by strong offensive tackles. If he lets a
blocker reach his body, he is taken out of the play. He needs to
improve his technique, as he was often able to rely on his speed to
get to the passer in college.
Overall:
Moss may be best served by playing OLB in a 3-4 scheme,
especially early in his career. He should be an impact player
immediately in rushing the passer but his long term success will
depend on his ability to add bulk and become an every down player
that can hold his own at the point of attack. He had health and
behavior problems at Florida that must be accounted for before a
team invests a high draft pick in him. Still, his size and speed are
rare, and the ability to get to opposing quarterbacks is extremely
valuable. |
