CB5 - Eric Wright, UNLV Eric Wright

NFL.com Profile

Height: 5-11
Weight: 193
40 yard dash: 4.36
Grade: 88
Strengths:
Eric Wright has great size and is probably the best athlete in the draft at the cornerback position. He has terrific reactions and the agility to react to receivers. He is physical at the line of scrimmage and uses his hands well to knock receivers off their routes. Good ball skills and times his jump well to deflect balls and make interceptions.

Weaknesses:

If it was not for off the field issues, Wright would be a definite first round pick and possibly the first cornerback taken. He does rely on his natural athleticism too much at times, which can allow him to give up the big play if he misreads the QB. At times he will go for a big hit instead of wrapping up.

Overall:

Eric Wright started his collegiate career at USC before legal troubles, including rape allegations and charges for possession of the drug Ecstay, forced his transfer to UNLV. Wright is an elite cover corner - probably the best man corner in the entire draft. Wright's long speed is ideal and he is a very fluid athlete. If Wright can stay out of trouble off the field and improve his tackling, he could become one of the top CBs in the league.
