CB8 - Josh Wilson, Maryland Josh Wilson

NFL.com Profile

Height: 5-9
Weight: 189
40 yard dash: 4.39
Grade: 83
Strengths:
Josh Wilson is a very intriguing prospect for the 2007 NFL Draft. Despite being undersized, he is a very strong player, who also is among the fastest cornerback prospects in the draft. Wilson has added value in the return game, with his terrific straight line speed. He has good ball skills and makes up for his lack of height with good leaping ability. He has the instincts to close on the ball in a hurry when it is in the air. He is a very aggressive tackler.
Weaknesses:

Wilson lacks ideal size for the NFL. He is a little stiffer than ideal through the hips, which may make him better suited for zone coverage, despite elite speed. He works hard in tackling but at times misses tackles that he should make. He has good top end speed, but his agility is only average. He will need to play tighter to his man in the NFL where his quick reactions will not be enough.

Overall:

Despite his short stature, Wilson is an aggressive player with great physical tools who projects well to the NFL. He was a top student athlete and his very strong for his size. He may never be a true lock down corner but he should start as a nickelback his rookie season and be a solid second corner in the league for a long time.
