CB4 - Aaron Ross, Texas Aaron Ross

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-0
Weight: 193
40 yard dash: 4.44
Grade: 91
Strengths:
The 2006 Thorpe Award winner, Ross has ideal size for the position. Ross has outstanding ball skills and a knack for making the big play. He uses quickness to deflect passes. Ross is willing to support the run and is an adequate tackler. Ross has experience returning punts and may be able to contribute in the return game at the NFL level. Ross is better in trailing coverage as he lacks the strength to consistently press top receivers.

Weaknesses:

Ross will occasionally give too much cushion in coverage. He must become more consistent in his technique and his tackling. Ross needs to improve his strength to become a number one corner. He must work on improving his instincts, as he is susceptible to pump fakes and play action. Ross will need to stop using his hands downfield to hold, as it will generate penalties at the NFL level.

Overall:

Ross excelled at the collegiate level after stepping into a starting role his senior year at Texas. He projects as a good cornerback prospect, but he must continue to work, both in the film room and in the weight room to really succeed in the NFL. Ross is probably a nickelback and return man initially. He is an active player, but it will be interesting to see how he translates to the NFL game.
