CB6 - Marcus McCauley, Fresno State Marcus McCauley

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-1
Weight: 203
40 yard dash: 4.39
Grade: 86
Strengths:
McCauley has a terrific frame at 6'1 with long arms. He is built well and uses his strength to willing tackle in the open field. He also uses his long arms to press receivers at the line of scrimmage. A smart player who can make pre-snap reads, he has the agility and loose hips to stay with receivers down the field. He has good instincts and can really jump, which allows him to knock down his share of passes.

Weaknesses:

He really disappointed his senior season after suffering a concussion in the second game. His team struggled and his effort was inconsistent, resulting him in being benched for one game. He must play consistent at the NFL level and show that he is back in the form of his junior season. If he can regain his confidence and display his physical nature, he can be a top corner in the NFL.

Overall:

McCauley is a physical speciman at CB and enjoys the physical aspects of the game, including pressing receivers and supporting the run game. He is not as comfortable in off coverage but he has the ability to react to passes in zone coverage. McCauley, along with Chris Houston and Eric Wright, have the natural abilities to be top flight corners, but all three could be huge busts if they do not fix their weaknesses.
