CB11 - Tanard Jackson, Syracuse Tanard Jackson

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-0
Weight: 192
40 yard dash: 4.53
Grade: 76
Strengths:
Jackson has good size, with long arms and impressive strength for the position. Jackson is a smart player who excels at diagnosing plays early, which allows him to reach receivers despite a lack of ideal speed. He is among the best tacklers of all corners in the draft, as he relishes the physical contact and tries to intimidate receivers.

Weaknesses:

He lacks the timed speed to be considered an elite corner. He is probably going to have to play mostly zone coverage as he lacks the ability to get down field with the receiver. He is not much of a playmaker who only had 5 interceptions in 33 starts and never placed higher than Second team all conference.

Overall:
There are not many concerns about Tanard Jackson, but the one concern about him is a large one. His lack of timed speed may push him to safety at the NFL level. He is a hard worker and a good leader on the field, but he did have a few off the field incidents at Syracuse, including being wounded in a stabbing. He may not have the upside if some of the other cornerbacks, but if he can overcome his lack of timed speed, he should be an average NFL starter.
