Strengths: David Irons has a well built frame and a strong lower body that allows him to play physical with receivers. He is best in man to man coverage, as he has a good ability to stay with a receiver. He uses his hands well to redirect receivers. He is pretty fluid through the hips and has good change of direction ability. He has good leaping ability and can deflect the ball. He works hard in tackling and delivers a pop. Irons plays better than his timed speed. Weaknesses: Irons is best suited in man coverage, as he lacks the recognition skills and instincts to succeed in zone coverage. He had two major surgeries on his left knee, which raises durability concerns. He is a little too aggressive with receivers and will get his share of penalties.
