CB7 - Daymeion Hughes, Cal Daymeion Hughes

NFL.com Profile

Height: 5-10
Weight: 192
40 yard dash: 4.68
Grade: 84
Strengths:
Daymeion Hughes has terrific ball skills, as evidenced by his eight interceptions in the 2006 season. He is better in zone coverage will allows him to take advantage of his reactions and recognition skills. He can handle receivers in short situations well due to good agility. He has good hands and great body control, which also assist him in making plays on the ball. A willing run defender, he is a good wrap up tackler.

Weaknesses:

Hughes was one of the players who lost the most in the off-season due to sub par long speed. He does not have the strength to consistently press receivers at the line of scrimmage or the speed to stay with them down field. He thinks too much of his abilities and occasionally talks trash to receivers.
Overall:

Hughes went from being overrated to underrated in the off-season. Despite his lofty stats, he falls short of the top six corners in the draft due to limited upside. Concerns about his 40 time in the off-season have dropped him farther down many boards than he deserves. His production at the collegiate level can not be overlooked and if he goes to a team with the right scheme, particularly a Cover 2 team, he will be very productive.
