CB9 - Fred Bennett, South Carolina Fred Bennett

NFL.com Profile

Height: 6-1
Weight: 196
40 yard dash: 4.46
Grade: 79
Strengths:
Bennett has the ideal size for a cornerback and uses his size to his advantage as he likes to press receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is aggressive in man to man coverage and has the rare speed for his size to run with most receivers. He uses his hands well to deflect passes.
Weaknesses:

Despite his size, Bennett shies away from run support. He is a very raw product in the passing game and will get his share of pass interference calls. Bennett also needs to become more fluid through the hips as he is going to have difficulty with shifty NFL WRs.

Overall:

Fred Bennett has the physical tools to be a successful NFL cornerback, but he must demonstrate that he can mentally handle the jump in competition. He is going to be challenged on a regular basis early in his career. Bennett has a high upside but also a high bust factor due to his unrefined technique and lack of aggression in run support.
